Description

Enjoy a 4 Days 3 Nights adventure through the spectacular rainforest of Tanjung Puting National Park aboard a traditional wooden Kelotok. Explore the famous orangutan rehabilitation centers of Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui, and Camp Leakey, relax at Croc Lake, visit the Pesalat Reforestation Camp, observe Proboscis Monkeys and other wildlife along the Sekonyer River, and experience the magical sight of millions of fireflies in the mangrove nipa palm area.

Itinerary

Day 01: Pangkalan Bun Airport – Kumai – River Cruise

Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport, you will be picked up by our local staff and transferred to the small town of Kumai, where you will board your traditional wooden boat called a Kelotok and meet your crew.

The boat is a traditional wooden river boat measuring approximately 12 meters x 2 meters, with a roof that forms the upper deck where you can enjoy panoramic views of the rainforest while cruising along the river.

The guide's team includes a boatman, cook, and expert guide.

In the peaceful afternoon, we will slowly explore the quiet river by Kelotok while observing monkeys along the riverside.

Dinner and overnight stay on the boat.

Day 02: Tanjung Harapan Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre – Camp Leakey – Croc Lake

After breakfast, board the Kelotok and travel upstream for approximately 2½ hours, followed by cruising through a side creek to Camp Leakey, where older orangutans are reintroduced into the rainforest and where the famous orangutan research center is located.

Enjoy a soft trekking around Camp Leakey.

Return to the boat for lunch before witnessing the orangutan feeding session at 14:00 PM, where rehabilitated orangutans receive additional food.

After the feeding session, return to the boat and relax at Croc Lake while waiting for sunset. During this time, you may also observe birds and primates around the lake.

Day 03: Croc Lake – Pondok Tanggui – Pesalat Replantation Camp – Tanjung Harapan

Breakfast will be served while the boat slowly heads toward Pondok Tanggui.

Upon arrival at Pondok Tanggui, the rehabilitation center for new ex-captive orangutans, witness the orangutan feeding session at 09:00 AM.

Afterwards, continue the trip to Pesalat Replantation Camp to observe the replantation project or take the opportunity to hike through the forest.

In the afternoon, visit Tanjung Harapan Rehabilitation Center and witness another orangutan feeding session at 15:00 PM.

Later, return to the boat and cruise downstream.

Along the way, you may observe various wildlife in their natural habitats, including Proboscis Monkeys, birds, and macaques returning to their home sweet home.

Dinner and overnight stay on the boat.

It is also possible to cruise to the Mangrove Nipah Palm area for a night excursion to witness millions of fireflies.

Day 04: Boat – Kumai – Airport

After breakfast, we will leave the National Park, the villages, and especially the great creatures of the heart of Borneo, Indonesia.
