Description

Experience an unforgettable 3 Days 2 Nights journey in Tanjung Puting National Park, cruising along the Sekonyer River aboard a traditional wooden klotok while exploring the rich rainforest ecosystem of Borneo. Visit the famous orangutan rehabilitation centers at Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui, and Camp Leakey, witness orangutan feeding sessions, observe Proboscis Monkeys and other wildlife in their natural habitats, enjoy a possible firefly experience in the mangrove area, and learn about rainforest conservation through the reforestation program at Pesalat Camp.

Itinerary

Day 01: Pangkalan Bun Airport – Kumai Town – Tanjung Harapan

Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport, you will be met by our guide for a short briefing and directly transferred to Kumai by taxi.

Then we will board a traditional wooden boat called Klotok and cruise along the Sekonyer River.

Visit Tanjung Harapan Camp and walk to the feeding station, expecting the orangutans to come to the feeding platform.

In the afternoon, continue cruising up and down the river to witness the Proboscis Monkey (Long Nose Monkey) and birds returning to their home sweet home.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation: Overnight on the boat

Day 02: Boat – Pondok Tanggui – Camp Leakey

After breakfast at 7:00 AM, we cruise up the Sekonyer River for approximately one hour to Pondok Tanggui, the second rehabilitation center for orphaned baby orangutans.

Upon arrival at Pondok Tanggui, walk through the forest for approximately 45 minutes to the feeding platform where the baby orangutans receive additional food.

Enjoy the surrounding rainforest scenery, where semi-wild orangutans sometimes come to the feeding station, along with opportunities to observe other Bornean wildlife.

Return to the boat and continue cruising for approximately 2 hours to the oldest camp in Tanjung Puting National Park, Camp Leakey.

Upon arrival, explore the surrounding camp, visit the information center, and perhaps meet the king of orangutans named Tom.

Return to the boat for lunch and take a rest. Orangutans sometimes come to the jetty expecting food.

At 14:30 PM, return to the camp to witness the orangutan feeding session.

Afterward, cruise downstream while observing wildlife such as Proboscis Monkeys, birds, and macaques returning to their natural habitats.

Dinner and overnight stay on the boat.

It is also possible to cruise to the Mangrove Nipah Palm area to experience the spectacular sight of millions of fireflies.

Accommodation: Overnight on the boat

Day 03: Tanjung Puting – Pesalat Camp – Kumai – Pangkalan Bun Airport
