In this program you will visit Pondok Tanggui and Camp Leakey. Pondok Tanggui feeding time is at 09:00 AM, while Camp Leakey feeding time is at 14:00 PM.
HOTEL / AIRPORT → HARBOR → PONDOK TANGGUI → LUNCH → CAMP LEAKEY → HARBOR → HOTEL
Driver will pick you up at the hotel or airport by car. He will bring you to the harbor where you will meet the crew, consisting of the guide and speed boat driver.
At 08:10 AM, you will depart to Pondok Tanggui. The journey takes approximately 40 minutes by speed boat. Upon arrival, you will walk for about 15 minutes to the orangutan feeding platform.
The ranger will call the orangutans to come, so you need to be patient while waiting for them. The ranger normally brings bananas and milk for the orangutans. When they arrive, it is the best time to enjoy watching these incredible animals.
After seeing the orangutans at Pondok Tanggui, continue to Pondok Ambung Camp for lunch. Afterwards, continue to Camp Leakey for the 14:00 PM feeding session.
Camp Leakey was established in 1971 by Dr. Birute Galdikas and Rod Brindamour. Galdikas was encouraged in her dream of studying wild orangutans in the forests of Southeast Asia by the late paleoanthropologist Dr. Louis Leakey, who also mentored Jane Goodall and the late Dian Fossey in their respective studies of chimpanzees and mountain gorillas.
You can also visit the camp's historical house and the OFI (Orangutan Foundation International) project.
After seeing the orangutans at Camp Leakey, return to the jetty where the speed boat will take you back to the harbor in Kumai.
Our driver will be waiting to transfer you back to your hotel.
